Who we are
Story Thread (storythread.org) is operated by Embroco LLC, a company in the United States. When you use Story Thread you are contracting with Embroco LLC ("we", "us").
Accepting these terms
By creating an account or continuing to use Story Thread, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. You must be old enough to form a contract where you live, or have a parent or guardian's permission; if you use Story Thread for an organization, you confirm you may agree for it.
The service
Story Thread lets writers publish serialized stories, updates and artwork, and lets readers follow, comment and subscribe. Paid plans (Plus and Pro), blog imports and Writing Tutor credits add optional features. You are responsible for keeping your login private and for activity on your account, and for keeping your details accurate.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you write and upload. You give us a limited licence to host, display and process it only to run the service. All content must follow our Community Standards, including our human-writing rules.
Acceptable use
You must not misuse Story Thread, including:
- using it for anything unlawful, or for fraud or spam;
- uploading content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights;
- interfering with security — uploading malware, probing or attacking our systems, or scraping the service;
- reverse engineering, reselling or getting around technical limits of the service.
Rights holders may report infringing content through our contact form; we will remove it where appropriate and may close accounts of repeat infringers.
AI features
The Grammar & Style Check, Writing Tutor and Story Tools only read and comment on your own writing; they never write stories for you. Their suggestions may be wrong — please check them yourself. You are responsible for what you submit and how you use any feedback. We may limit or refuse AI requests that break these terms.
Our property
Embroco LLC owns the Story Thread software, design, documentation, name and logo. These terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service within your plan.
Payments and subscriptions
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
Payment, billing, taxes, renewals, cancellations and refunds are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. Subscriptions renew monthly or yearly until cancelled; when you cancel you keep your plan until the end of the paid period. See our Refund Policy.
Service level
We work hard to keep Story Thread running, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent allowed by law, the service is provided "as is" without implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or end access to your account for a material breach of these terms, non-payment, a security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious violations of our Community Standards. You can stop using Story Thread at any time. If your account ends, we may delete your content after a reasonable period; you can ask us for a copy beforehand.
Liability
To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (such as lost profits, data or goodwill), and our total liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud.
Other terms
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. We are not responsible for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control. You may not transfer your account without our consent. We may update these terms and will post the new date above.
